Statement of Publication Ethics and Malpractice

The Journal of Design and Technology Analysis (JDDT) is committed to upholding the highest standards of publication ethics and takes all possible measures against any form of publication malpractice. The Editorial Board is responsible, among other things, for preventing such malpractice. Unethical behavior is unacceptable, and JDDAT maintains a zero-tolerance policy toward plagiarism in any form.

Authors submitting articles must affirm that the manuscript’s content is original. The similarity threshold is set at a maximum of 15%. Furthermore, submission implies that the manuscript has not been previously published in any language, either in whole or in part, and is not currently under consideration for publication elsewhere. Editors, authors, and reviewers of JDDT must be fully committed to good publication practices and accept the responsibility of fulfilling the duties set forth by the COPE Code of Conduct for Journal Editors. As part of Core Practices, COPE has outlined guidelines at http://publicationethics.org/resources/guidelines.

Section A: Publication and Authorship

  • All submitted papers undergo a rigorous open peer-review process by experts in the specific field of the manuscript.

  • Review factors include relevance, soundness, significance, originality, readability, and language.

  • Possible editorial decisions include: acceptance, acceptance with revision, or rejection.

  • If an author is encouraged to revise and resubmit, there is no guarantee that the revised version will be accepted.

  • Rejected articles will not be re-reviewed.

  • Paper acceptance is subject to legal requirements regarding libel, copyright infringement, and plagiarism.

  • No research may be included in more than one publication.

Section B: Author Responsibilities

  • Authors must certify that the manuscript is their original work.

  • Authors must certify that the manuscript has not been previously published elsewhere.

  • Authors must certify that the manuscript is not currently under consideration for publication elsewhere.

  • Authors are required to participate in the peer-review process.

  • Authors are obligated to provide retractions or corrections of mistakes.

  • All listed authors must have made a significant contribution to the research.

  • Authors must state that all data in the paper are real and authentic.

  • Authors must notify the Editor of any potential conflicts of interest.

  • Authors must identify and cite all sources used in the creation of their manuscript.

  • Authors must report any errors discovered in their published paper to the Editor immediately.

Section C: Reviewer Responsibilities

  • Reviewers must maintain the confidentiality of all information regarding the paper and treat it as privileged information.

  • Reviews must be conducted objectively, without personal criticism of the author.

  • Reviewers must express their views clearly with supporting arguments.

  • Reviewers should identify relevant published work that has not been cited by the authors.

  • Reviewers must alert the Editor-in-Chief to any substantial similarity or overlap between the manuscript under consideration and any other published paper of which they have personal knowledge.

  • Reviewers must decline to review manuscripts in which they have conflicts of interest resulting from competitive, collaborative, or other relationships/connections with any of the authors, companies, or institutions connected to the paper.

Section D: Editor Responsibilities

  • The Editorial Board has full responsibility and authority to accept or reject an article.

  • Editors are responsible for the overall content and quality of the publication.

  • Editors must prioritize the needs of authors and readers when striving to improve the journal.

  • Editors must guarantee the quality of the papers and the integrity of the academic record.

  • Editors must publish errata pages or make corrections when necessary.

  • Editors must have a clear understanding of the research funding sources.

  • Decisions must be based solely on the significance, originality, clarity, and relevance of the paper to the journal's scope.

  • Editors shall not reverse their decisions or overturn the decisions of previous editors without serious justification.

  • Editors must maintain reviewer anonymity.

  • Editors must ensure that all published research material conforms to internationally accepted ethical guidelines.

  • Editors should only accept a paper when reasonably certain of its integrity.

  • Editors must take action if they suspect misconduct, whether a paper is published or unpublished, and make all reasonable efforts to resolve the issue.

  • Editors must not reject papers based on mere suspicion; they must have evidence of misconduct.

  • Editors must ensure no conflict of interest exists between staff, authors, reviewers, and board members.
